The beginnings of Diaz Foods can be traced back to 1969, when Domingo Diaz and Julio Rene Diaz, a father and son team, opened their first grocery store called Diaz Market in Midtown Atlanta. When their business quickly grew to five stores, Domingo and Julio recognized the need for a distribution center, thus Diaz Foods was formed in 1980. Since that time, Diaz Foods has grown into one of the largest distributors of Hispanic products in the United States, serving more than 3,500 customers in 26 states.

As the Hispanic community in the United States has grown, so to has Diaz Foods. With over 350 employees, and consistent annual growth of 20-30%. The Company maintains approximately a quarter of a million square feet of office and warehousing space to support its extensive distribution network, including Diaz Foods' newly remodeled warehouse and office space on thirteen acres on Fulton Industrial Blvd, Diaz Produce's space at the State Farmer's Market in Forest Park and Tortilla's de Casa, a tortilla manufacturing plant off Fulton Industrial Blvd.

One of the keys to the success of Diaz Foods is its people who have come to be known as the “Diaz family of employees.” More than 80% of the entire staff is bilingual including Spanish, Portuguese, French and English. The diversification among the employees also contributes to overall product knowledge and an understanding of market needs. Over fifteen Latin-American countries are represented by the employees of Diaz Foods.

Not only are Diaz Foods employees diverse, but so are the products. Diaz Foods stocks over 6,000 items of which 85% are imported from Latin-America. In addition to its distribution services, Diaz Foods also offers a number of value added services including:

  • Same Day Shipping
  • Drop Shipments
  • Inventory Control
  • UPS Services
  • Containerization
  • Food grade facilities
The efforts of Diaz Foods have been recognized over the years in numerous publications and media outlets. Hispanic Business Magazine consistently heralds Diaz Foods as one of America's "Top 500 Hispanic Owned Businesses," (ranked in the top 50 in the United States). INC. Magazine placed Diaz Foods on the list of America's Inner City 100 Fastest-growing privately held inner-city companies. The company has also been featured in CNN's Pinnacle and Business Unusual features.

With the continued support of their customers, a dependable forward-thinking family of employees and a strong management team, Diaz Foods continues to grow and prosper. Another fundamental element of its success is Diaz Foods' sense of corporate responsibility and the need to give back to the community. As such, Diaz Foods, its management team and employees, will remain committed to community involvement through service, volunteerism and financial contributions.
